The Farm-museums of Watch-making Country

Daily life of the « Montagnons »
Located in France's Upper Doubs region, along the Swiss border, the farm-museums of the watchmaking country are a testimony to the remarkable heritage surrounding the farms of Franche-Comté and their inhabitants.
The farm-museums offer their visitors the chance to take part in the everyday life of a family of 'Montagnons, as the inhabitants of the high Jura valleys are known. Visit the farm of the Jacquemot family, a Franc-Comtois farmhouse with a 'tuyé' (a great wood-fire chimney used for smoking meats), restored to its original state and whose architecture and interior decors figure in the register of historical monuments.
The farm museums also offer the occasion to see the farm workshop of the Girard family, whose many tools and machines highlight the complementary skills exercised by the farrier, the wheelwright and the blacksmith.
